Haunted New Orleans

New Orleans has always been on my ghost adventure bucket list. New Orleans has such a long and diverse history that has seen lots of mistreatment of human beings, a lot of suffering, voodoo, vampires, and sad deaths; making it a perfect breeding ground for ghosts and hauntings. I was very excited to visit famous places, learn in more detail about what has happened here, and hopefully capture some sort of evidence of ghosts.

I booked 3 excursions through Viator:

  1. City tour- which would allow access to St. Louis Cemetery #3 and tell a bit of history about that
  2. A ghost tour of the French Quarter, which would take me to the famous Lalaurie Mansion and the oldest bar in America, Lafitte’s Blacksmith shop bar.
  3. A cemetery tour of St. Louis Cemetery #1

Along on all of the above tours I brought along my only 3 pieces of “ghost gear” I have which are: my phone for pictures, a tape recorder to see if I can capture disembodies voices, and an EMF detector.

To keep things short, New Orleans was not creepy at all! None of the above places gave me a haunted vibe whatsoever. It was fun to learn about the places, BUT I captured no evidence of ghosts whatsoever. My quest for evidence continues.

The famous Lalaurie Mansion, no ghosts captured in the windows

For some reason I thought we were going to be able to go inside of the mansion. I thought it was a museum that offered tours. I was sadly mistaken. As you can tell I’m not much of a big planner. It is a private residence so we could only look and take pictures from the outside.

I ran the EMF detector around the outside of the Lalaurie Mansion. I never got a spike. No ghosts here.

While outside, I kept my EMF detector out and ran it along the outside of the walls and windows hoping to get something but nothing. The tour guide even told us that there was a rumor that if you touched a certain wall of the house it made you feel ill until you backed away. Of course I tried it and felt nothing. Maybe I didn’t feel I because I was already feeling pretty sick that day. You be the judge and touch the walls of the mansion and tell me if you felt sick.

St. Louis Cemetery #3- you’ll definitely want to hear all about why there are above ground tombs in NOLA
St. Louis Cemetery #1: They have a unique way of cremating bodies in NOLA. I kept getting Disney’s Haunted Mansion vibes in these cemeteries

I took a bunch of pictures hoping to capture something in a place full of dead bodies! I captured nothing at all.
