Hello fellow ghost lovers! I believe you are on this tab because you also love ghost stories, tales of hauntings, and exploring haunted places. I added this tab to my blog because I plan to use credit card points and miles to take me to spooky places I’ve always wanted to explore since I was a little girl.
I’ve always liked ghost stories but did not experience a true haunting until I bought my first home. I fell in love with my first home as soon as I walked into it for the first time. I just knew it was my house. I told my realtor I wanted to put in an offer and we did. He later told me that he needed to tell me that the house used to be a rental home and that the last tenant had died in the home of natural causes. He then asked if I was still interested in the home. While I love ghosts I thought absolutely nothing of what he told me and proceeded with my offer. I got the house and never once thought again of the information he had told me. Well, not until I was forced to recall that discussion.
I will say that I am a ghost lover with a very healthy dose of skepticism. I will always try to find a rational explanation of things before automatically jumping to saying, “it’s a ghost”. So when things started happening I did not believe it until that one night!
This post would be too long if I include all the details so let me give you the highlights in a quick summary format:
It all started when I left my best friend alone in my house babysitting the kids while I went out. She said that she experienced all the cabinet doors opening when she walked out of the room and came back. Even the cabinet doors that were high up and too tall for the kids to reach. I thought she was playing a prank on me since she didn’t send picture proof so I just brushed it off.
I would hear what sounded like footsteps on the floor, but I assumed it was just the old house (built in the 1950’s I believe) settling.
The night that made me officially believe was the night I tucked my 2 little girls into their bed, walked across the dark house to my room located all the way to the back of the house, locked my bedroom door (it always made me feel safer to lock the door because I was the only adult in the house at the time), and went to sleep. In the middle of the night I woke up because I heard my door opening. Whenever that door opened it made a loud noise because it stuck to the door frame. I sat up in bed and looked toward the doorway thinking one of my daughters had woken up and come looking for me. I will say I am almost blind without my contacts, so all I could see was a black figure standing in the doorway. I asked, “yes baby, what do you want?” thinking it was my daughter. I got no response, the shadow just stayed there. I felt no fear, so I just went back to sleep. In the morning my door was still open and when I touched the door handle, it was still in the lock position. I asked my daughters if they had come to my bedroom last night and they both said no. I believed them because at that age, if they were walking across a dark home to come to me, they would have crawled into my bed.
From that moment on I had my best friend sleep over whenever my girls had to go to their dad’s house because I did not want to be alone. One of these nights, my friend slept over in my bed. We went to sleep and I heard her getting up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom located in my bedroom. Next thing I know shes rushing back into bed and telling me shes scared. I said, “what?” because I was still half asleep. She just told me to go back to sleep and I did. The next morning she told me what scared her. She said that she got up to go to the restroom and was coming back to bed when she saw a dark human figure exiting the room. She thought it was me and wondered where I was going, but she didn’t care, she just wanted to sleep. As she got closer to the bed she saw that I was still lying in bed sleeping. She had seen the shadow ghost too.
In my time in the home we continued to hear footsteps, door slams when we were all together in the same room, both my oldest daughter and I heard a man’s voice when no man lived with us, toys would go off by themselves in the middle of the night right outside my room, and I over and over heard knocks on my nightstand next to me that would wake me up in the middle of the night.
It would freak me out, but I wouldn’t say it would scare me. I got the feeling the renter who died in his sleep didn’t realize he has dead and was just going about his business in his home. I no longer live in this house since I remarried and added twin girls to my family. We needed a bigger house to fit all of us and so we sold the haunted house. I still think about this house and wonder if the new tenants are experiencing any of the things my family experienced.
These experiences just renewed my love for ghosts and the paranormal and I plan to travel the country looking for more paranormal experiences. Tune in to this section of the blog for all of my spooky experiences.
